The problem occurs on both of my computers. Thinking that the public keys of the recipient had become corrupted, I tried trashing a recipient's public key and then got a new one, but the problem persists. If I don't force quit Mail before this happens, the computer becomes totally unresponsive. Watching Activity Monitor when sending an encrypted attachment, I see that the processor is going into overdrive and my memory quickly goes to zero. If I send a non-encrypted email with an attachment, it goes through just fine If I send an encrypted email without an attachment, it goes through just fine It's a problem for every recipient I send encrypted attachments to. Maybe it started after the 10.10.4 update, not sure.

This was never a problem before, and I don't believe it started with any software updates though I may be wrong.

Now with the combination of SpamSieve, an iPhone which does real IMAP including listing folders on the server and Merlin Mann’s Inbox Zero recommendations, I’m finally in control of my email, greatly improving my overall productivity. So encryption in Mail has always been an extremely flakey part of OS X, in my opinion, but I've hit a new low-starting a few weeks ago on my Mac and my MacBook Pro I noticed that when I try to send attachments using Mail and encrypting the message, both of my computers freeze up completely within seconds. Other features include a whitelist, blocklist, coloring of spam messages to show degree of spamminess and the option to use of the Habeas Safelist.

It also keeps statistics on mail processing, showing the total of good and spam messages, as well as false positives and false negatives, which is great for stats junkies like myself. It’s Bayesian filter system works really well, I’ve only seen 10 false positives out of the over 13K email messages it has processed so far. When you first setup SpamSieve you’ll need to train it for a while, identifying both spam and good email, which is then logged in SpamSieve’s corpus. Since I started using it on a daily basis, very little spam makes it to my inbox.
#SPAMSIEVE NOT WORKING INSTALL#
A couple of weeks ago I decided to install SpamSieve by C-Command Software and so far it’s been doing an amazing job. It has been doing an ok job, but still a bunch of spam gets through casing me to waste time dealing with it.

I’m on a Mac and have been using a combination of SpamAssassin on the server and Mac Mail’s Junk filter. As with everyone, spam has been becoming more an more of a problem every day.
